Privacy Policy

First Light is a Catholic prayer app from JRU Development. Your prayer life is personal, so the app is built to keep it on your device. We don't run ads, we don't track you, and you don't need an account.
1. Data stored on your device
Your journal entries, gratitudes, reflections, goals, prayer favorites and requests, reading-plan progress, streaks, badges and settings are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's SwiftData and app storage. We don't operate servers that receive this data, and we can't see it. Deleting the app deletes this data, apart from anything included in your own device backups.
2. Home-screen widget
The First Light widget reads a small summary (such as your streak) from a shared container on your device. This data stays on your device.
3. Notifications
If you allow notifications, First Light schedules prayer reminders locally on your device. You can turn them off anytime in iOS Settings.
4. Purchases (RevenueCat and Apple)
First Light Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your payment details. We use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription status. RevenueCat receives purchase information from Apple and an anonymous app user ID, not your name, email or prayer content. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
5. Daily readings
To show the day's Mass readings, the app loads them from the USCCB's website over HTTPS. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to the USCCB, but no account or personal data is sent. Readings you've opened are saved on your device for offline reading.
6. No ads, analytics or tracking
First Light contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites. We don't sell or share your data.
7. Sharing and ratings
If you choose to share First Light (for example, to X), the app opens that service with a pre-filled message, and that service's own policy applies. The app may show Apple's standard rating prompt; Apple handles it.
8. Children
First Light is not directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Website waitlist
If you join the "notify me" list on firstlightcatholic.app, we store the email you enter so we can tell you when First Light is available. We won't sell it. To be removed, email us.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
