Terms of Use

These plain-language terms cover your use of the First Light app and this website, published by JRU Development (“we,” “us”).

1. Apple's standard license applies

First Light is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). If anything here conflicts with Apple's Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls.

2. Free features and First Light Pro

Core features are free. First Light Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple.

3. Spiritual content, not professional advice

First Light offers prayers, readings and educational content for personal devotion. It is not a substitute for a parish, a priest, spiritual direction, or medical or mental-health care. First Light is an independent app and is not an official publication of the Catholic Church or any diocese.

4. Your content

Your journal entries, intentions and progress belong to you and are stored on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Fair use of the app

Please don't copy, resell, reverse-engineer or misuse the app. Bible text, readings and artwork remain subject to their own sources and rights.

6. No warranty; limits of liability

The app is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from its use, as further described in Apple's Standard EULA.

7. Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We'll change the date above when we do.
